So - here I go AGAIN. I will be running/ walking 26.2 miles on the 3rd October 21 (The London Marathon) . I signed up for The 2020 event and with postponements I have trained 3 times for this - I have never been as tired in my life!! This will be a never again marathon.
Many of us live fortunate lives but so many people don't and often , because of problems not of their own making, many young people get far from the best start in life.
For some young people in fact even everyday life can feel like a marathon challenge . The YMCA team is running to change that. The money raised through the London Marathon will enable the YMCA to provide safe accommodation for homeless young people, support for those with mental health problems, and the opportunity for others to access life-changing education and training.
TEES VALLEY YMCA will directly receive a proportion of my fundraising, locally they provide vital services to young people including in Darlington provision of 31 fully supported housing units with on site counsellors and mental health support and access to training.
COVID-19 has been especially difficult for vulnerable people and the charities that support them. Fundraising has dropped massively not least because fundraising events ceased or were postponed. If you can spare even a small amount it will help.
