Update 28th September: Completed the tri yesterday!! Thanks to all who have donated, if you are here and about to, thank you so much x
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Most of you know Kevin, who had a bilateral stroke some months ago, but is making a brilliant recovery now, thanks to his own indomitable willpower and wonderful family support, but also due to the professional help he has had from the physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other professionals. Here's a message from Kevin:
"I was really lucky. I had fantastic support from physiotherapists but most of all from my family and friends. So many people suffering strokes, especially older people, may not have that kind of family support in place or be able to make the best of the physiotherapy available. I was able to see that first hand in the stroke ward. That’s where the Stroke Assocation comes in, to make that support available where it’s needed most. Please support Diane - it’s such a worthy cause."
Every year there are about 152,000 strokes in the UK. Thanks to improvements to stroke care you are twice as likely to survive a stroke than 20 years ago, however stroke remains the UK's third biggest killer. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK changing the world for people affected by stroke by its research, support and campaigning.
Please give whatever you can to this very worthy cause - I am going to be swimming 800 metres in a lake(!), cycling 40km and finishing with an 8km run on Saturday 27th September at Hever Castle Triathlon in Kent., and the thought of the money I'm raising will keep me going. Thank you, Diane x
