Over half of the children in Cleveland are living in poverty. And most of the kids Beech Brook serves fall into that category. These children come to school wearing clothes that don't fit or go without socks, hats or boots in the winter.
Beech Brook's mission is to help children and families thrive. But can we really expect children to thrive when they aren't even able to keep warm when it snows? When they have moved around so much that they don't have their own bed but sleep on the floor with nothing but a small pillow?
This year for Giving Tuesday, Beech Brook is establishing the Basic Needs Emergency Fund for Children and Families. All donations toward this fund will help the children they serve meet their basic needs. When a child comes in who needs a coat or who walks through the snow with holes in his shoes, this fund allows Beech Brook staff to get the items they need, and quickly.
I'm supporting Beech Brook this Giving Tuesday. Will you?
