Story
Oasis works with some of the most vulnerable communities in the U.K. supporting them into a place of independence. Many of the families and children they help are living below the poverty line, worrying about where their next meal is coming from as the cost of living crisis intensifies.
Thankfully, Oasis is well placed to provide them with quick and effective targeted support including; emergency food and hardship packages, access to community pantries/fridges, debt advice, benefits and employment advice & training, money management skills, counselling, and mental health support for all ages.
I’ve worked at Oasis for over 7 years now and in that time they’ve become much more than an employer to me. They have supported me with my own mental health challenges and adapted to my new life as a mother to young children. In short. They always lead by example and that is one of the many reasons why I support the vision and mission.
I do one of these challenges every year and my dear friend Liz was always one of the first to donate because she wanted to “help anything that helps children”. So this year, my less then fit self is going to attempt 100 laps in one go, in her memory. Because she was ace. And I miss her.
