Story
Diamond Group have worked with Age UK for over three years, providing IT and Telecoms solutions as well as organising fundraising events in support of the charity.
John Burns, MD recently spoke to Parry Jenkins, Head of Homecare for Age UK Northumberland. After the interview John asked if Diamond could help in any way by offering our services and vans.
Since then staff at Diamond have been volunteering, and helping distribute over 300 care packages to residents in and around Northumberland who are self-isolating or unable to leave their house during lockdown.
During the lockdown John has been walking from home to work on the Team Valley and thought that as well as keeping fit he would take the opportunity to raise much needed funds for this brilliant charity. His aim is to complete 1,000 miles – any donations for the charity would be well received by them.

Most of us have felt very lonely and alone at some point in our lives. Its a profoundly personal and painful experience and people can feel completely hopeless. Luckily for many, life moves on and these feelings pass. But for some of us loneliness can become chronic, making us miserable and often causing us to lose self-confidence. It can become increasingly difficult to build new and meaningful relationship that could restore our sense of self and self-worth. The fact that loneliness carries a stigma can make it hard to admit to it and seek help. And often people dont know where to go for support.Loneliness is associated with depression, sleep problems, impaired cognitive health, heightened vascular resistance, hypertension, psychological stress and mental health problems. Especially in older people. Alone we can make a difference. Together we can make a change.
