We provide support services and work to reduce the number of baby deaths

Story

Well we did it, we all managed the 47 miles and survived it with no major hitches. We all had a fantastic day, apart from the 5am start which wasn't fun! It is a very well organised event with fabulous food stops along the way. The weather was perfect for cycling and we have smashed our fundraising target of £1 000. You still have time to donate if you haven't already done so, 20% of donations come after the event. We couldn't have done it without the support and dedication of lots of people, Leanne & Mike Carberry, Maurice Carberry, David Hall, Graham Anderson, Arnold Clark, Stan Dacre, Sylvia Little and the rest of the riders in team D&G Sands, fantastic achievement everyone, thank you. To all our friends, families' and supporters thank you for your donations.

We are fundraising to help bereaved parents in Dumfries & Galloway who have suffered the devastating loss of their much longed for baby, either through Stillbirth or neonatal death. Valerie, Susan and I have all been through this tragedy  and are doing everything we can to offer support and comfort to try to make things a tiny bit better for the parents.

We provide Cresswell Maternity Hospital with memory boxes to give to parents to place all their little memories of their baby, each box and its contents are £30. We have provided a "cold cot" and mattress to allow the baby to stay with the parents for as long as they want to, or to allow them to take baby home, a camera, printer and individual memory cards that the parents get to keep. We have almost completed the refurbishment of a room to allow parents, family and friends to spend as long as they need to with their baby away from the busy maternity ward. The money for this was raised at our 1st ever Sands ball in 2011. We have commissioned two sleeping baby sculptures at local cemetery's where stillborn babies are buried.

All this work has been done because of all our many supporters, family, friends, colleagues & bereaved parents. We want to continue this work and by sponsoring us to do "Pedal for Scotland" your are helping us to do this, so thank you for your generosity.
