Story
Beer Bellies on Bikes is a group of ex-rugby players (sorry Jack) who have over the past 2 years raised over £10000 for charities close to our collective hearts.
This year BBoB3, we are raising funds for MPD Voice, a National charity based at Guy's & St Thomas Hospital, London, whose role is to raise awareness, offer support and fund research into myeloproliferative disorders (you can see why it's abbreviated to MPD)
We have chosen this charity because my younger son, Matthew, was diagnosed with Polycythaemia Vera 3 years ago after a blood clot in the brain. I'm glad to say that after a lot of support from many staff at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and Western General Hospital in Edinburgh he is coping well with his treatment, and will hopefully be able to start University this year.
We are this year, cycling in Mull, Ardnamurchan & Skye - over 300 miles in 4.5 days - 11 ferries, 5 islands & probably 5 million midgies.
The original 7 improbable "athletes" are joined by 6 newcomers this year , we are: David Graham, Dave Law, Craig Thomson, John 'Tweag' Lindsay, George Currie,Jack Ryan,Stevie Christie, Dave Gemmell, Nick Graham,Brian Bianchi, Cammy Taylor, Scott Henderson & Kev Rodgerson.
Any advice, suggestions, messages of support and of course donations are gratefully received.
