Throughout lockdown in the absence of journeys abroad and journeys to and from the office or journeys to see friends, a lot of us have been on our own.... personal journeys. Some of those have been to find new and inventive ways to stay in touch with those we love. Some of those have been journeys trying to find the end of Netflix! And others have had journeys finding out just how bad our mental health can be when everything is taken away.
Like others, I have been on all three! But I have also fallen in love, and out of love with my body, and now it’s time to fall in love again. One step to do that is to get fit again, and for me that motivation is to get into a particularly lovely dress.
My gender has always been a huge question mark to me, my family and friends, and I think I’m getting to the point now where I’m ok with that. It’s been a HUGE journey to get there, with a fair few ups (including discovering drag, crushing my own ideas of gender binaries, finding the confidence to wear my Morticia Addams dress, and coming out to my work colleagues using a power point presentation) and a hell of a lot of downs (which I shan’t mention here).
Now, I have been very lucky in many ways, I have had some amazing support over the years to accept myself and the body I am in, including support from the amazing Andi, CEO of Crysalis, but the work chrysalis do is crucial to the trans community to support everyone on their own journey of self acceptance, and I want to help support their amazing and vital, life saving work.
So Im going on my own journey, I’m going to walk, cycle, and I may even run in order to help chrysalis reach a total of 2000 miles! I hope to be able to make a significant contribution to the miles, and I hope you can support me by making your own contribution to support the trans community, whether that be financially! or giving me a boost in my motivation to get out there and get moving!! or joining in yourself!!! or just tell me I look cute in my gym shorts!!!!!
