Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I also want to thank everyone who has supported me with my first bit of fund raising, the sales on my Christmas cakes and Chilli Jam raising a whopping £150 so far. Many thanks.
My marathon story goes back to the late 80's when I made a pact with a school friend that we would run a marathon before we were 40. Well that has long passed now, but when I was thinking about what I would like to achieve before I turned a half century this thought came back to me. So I've signed up for the Brighton Marathon 2019, London to Brighton bike ride and a 20 mile race in Worthing. I also wanted to raise money at the same time. I searched long and hard for a charity that felt close to me and Children on the Edge (COTE) really stuck a chord when I read how they help children and families around the world. They work hard to resource and support children to make a change in their own futures rather than seeing them as passive recipients of charity. COTE also has it's roots in Brighton. It was Anita Roddick, from the Body Shop, reacting to the Romanian Orphanage Crisis that started the ball rolling back in 1990 (around the time I was making my marathon pact) and it has been rolling for 28 years now. This charity is doing great work all over the world and I am grateful that I can support it in this small way.
