Story
My work as a paediatric oncologist means I’m privileged to look after babies, children and young people with cancer. They let me into their lives and I get to know them, their mums, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents and the whole extended, blended family. I get to see at first hand the pain, hardship, sorrow and stress they all endure.
My job and the job of the massive team that looks after every young person blighted by cancer could not happen without the support that Young Lives V Cancer gives to families. Without them we would all be lost. They do everything from providing an essential listening service through supporting families financially, providing the most amazing Home from Home accommodation and bereavement care if it is needed.
Although my primary inspiration is the children and their families, I am constantly amazed by what Young Lives V Cancer delivers every day to make children and their families’ lives as good as they can possibly be.
