Longest Day Golf Challenge 2023 · 21 June 2023 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

We are a group of golfers, friends and members who have come together to raise money for Effingham Golf Club's charity, Alzheimer's Society. Golf is a great sport to bring together friends, and friends of friends, we get a competitive sport, great exercise, share stories, meet new people and most importantly have the opportunity to talk about our concerns which is fantastic for our mental health. We have chosen the Alzheimer's Society because this is a devastating illness that has affected many people close to us. We all have personal story to tell of the impact on loved ones and their family and friends. We want to raise money to help with the research, care and education so people suffering with this illness and their family and friends can live without fear and prejudice in their communities with people who love them. We have therefore decided as a large group of members to play 72 holes together on the longest day - 4am to 8pm at Effingham Golf Club. Wish us luck and please support us in any way you can Steve Haines and Debbie Watson Club Captain's
