Story

🏃‍♂️🌍 President to Pavement: A Marathon Trilogy for Hope

I'm thrilled to share a journey that goes beyond the pavement. As the President of Thurso Rotary Club, I'm excited to announce a special personal challenge which will mark my final six months in this role. In the spirit of service above self, I'm lacing up my running shoes for an extraordinary challenge—conquering the Inverness Half Marathon, the London Marathon, and the Edinburgh Marathon, all in support of ShelterBox., a cause that's close to my heart.

All 3 Marathons will be run between the 10th March 2024 and 26th May 2024.

Training for this challenge starts in earnest on the 3rd January and I'll definitely need the training!

I would love to raise a minimum of £1,000 from my challenge which will help pay for at least 5 Earthquake kits which will help so many displaced people at the time of disaster. ShelterBox need to make sure these items are purchased and stocked in their pre-positioned warehouses across the World so they are ready for the next disaster.

Inverness Half Marathon: Where Resilience Meets Highland Scenery

The journey kicks off in the picturesque landscapes of Inverness on Sunday 10th of March. The Highland Half Marathon isn't just about conquering miles; it's a symbolic stride for resilience. For every mile I run, there are families facing crises around the world. This marathon is for them. 🌍

ShelterBox, the organization I'm running for, responds with urgency and compassion. They provide emergency shelter and tools to families robbed of their homes by disasters. It's about more than just shelter; it's about restoring dignity, hope, and the promise of a new beginning.

London Marathon: Striding Through the Heart of Compassion

Next stop, the iconic London Marathon! Running through the heart of this vibrant city on Sunday 21st April isn't just a physical challenge, it's a purposeful stride for compassion. Just like the diverse neighborhoods of London, ShelterBox's reach is global, ensuring families affected by disasters have the essentials to rebuild their lives.

London is a city of resilience and unity, values that resonate with ShelterBox's commitment to leaving no family without shelter. The funds we raise together will directly contribute to providing emergency aid where it's needed most.

Edinburgh Marathon: Crossing the Finish Line for Shelter and Hope

The grand finale awaits on Sunday 26th May in the historic city of Edinburgh. Crossing that marathon finish line isn't just about personal achievement; it's a celebration of community and a commitment to supporting ShelterBox's mission. Shelter, warmth, and hope are what we're running for.

In Edinburgh, just like ShelterBox, we're writing stories of recovery and renewal. Each step we take brings us closer to a world where disasters don't leave families stranded and vulnerable.
