Story
The race was run on a glorious highland autumn day - we couldn't have asked for better conditions.
The support was fantastic and the race organisers got pretty much everything right.
I was able to produce a lifetime best of 3:16:34 and thoroughly enjoyed the whole event. A great finale to my fundraising for CHSS.
My dad had a Stroke in December of last year. Since then he's had to rely much more on my mum and the rest of his family than he used to. Since he came home from hospital in January '09 (on his birthday) he has been constantly helped by Katie, his Stroke Nurse, supported by Chest, Heart and Stroke Association Scotland.
She has provided invaluable advice and guidance over the last six months; she's helped arrange speech and language therapy and computer programmes to help him read and write again. She's also been instrumental in getting him back to physical exercise and assisting with some of mum and dad's transport problems.
Stroke is the greatest single cause of severe disability in Scotland and the 3rd most common cause of death.
There are 13,000 new strokes a year and of these more than 1 in 5 are in someone under 65. You, or someone you know, will almost certainly be affected.
This year I'm running the Loch Ness Marathon on Sunday 4th Oct, I've paid the entry fee myself - all the money will go to CHSS. Please give whatever you can, no donation is too small
