TEAM DEREK - charity bike ride
Fundraising for Stockport NHS Charity
Fundraising for Stockport NHS Charity
I am raising funds for 2 areas within Stockport Charitable Funds the first one being the Endoscopy Scope Guide Fund as I have been receiving treatment from this department since 2004 and this is a way I feel I can give something back for the excellent care I have received from the department.
The second fund I am supporting is the Laurel Suite as this is close to my heart after loosing my daughter to cancer and also my wife who is in remission from breast cancer at the moment.
***Please note the the Ride will now take place in Spring 2021 as was postponed due to Covid-19***
Personal message:
I would like to thank all the staff at the endoscopy unit for their hard work, time and care they give to their patients. Also I am very proud the way endoscopy unit has become one of the best in the country.
I have been going there since 2001 when my problems began - I had a few hiatus hernias which they removed then they put mesh in my gullet to keep it working and they also removed a part of my stomach. Then in 2016 my problems started again I went in for another hernia operation they had to remove half of my stomach put me in a coma so to keep it short I would also like to thank the doctors and nurses on the icu. For their care and hard work night and day also a big thank you to Ms Henley and Mr Aguwnobis and their staff THANK YOU.
Now I've got an aneurysm and am doing ok but they tell me no more treatment or operations - this is the main reason why I'm doing the bike ride so I can get new equipment for those wards and units. That is why we need another new scope guide. Finally the last word is a BIG THANK YOU TO STEPPING HILL HOSPITAL. Thank you Derek Farndell.
