I have had the great privilege of working for St. John Ambulance in the caring field for the last 21 years or so and they are a fantastic charity to support and it gives me great pleasure to be able to give something back in return. I am well aware of all the lives which have been touched in both minor and major ways by their wonderful First Aid team - I just hope that I wont be needing their services on the day but it will be good to know that they are there! 

I have wanted to have a go at the marathon for many years but up until now have never had the courage to apply. It was the grit and determination of the ladies in my care which spurred me on this year. At the average age of 90+ , they all took part in a mini marathon around the gardens and raised a great deal of money in the process - how could I not rise to the same challenge at half their age? (well, maybe a bit over!)
