Story
After a period of feeling unwell with nausea, horrendous tummy cramps , distended abdomen and extreme fatigue, I was rushed into hospital on Easter Sunday 2021. An Easter I will certainly never forget. I was on my own in a hospital bed as it was during covid, being told I had advanced bowel cancer and needed emergency life saving surgery. It took a while for this to sink in and I kept thinking they must be wrong. Hearing that I had stage 4 cancer was a bitter pill to swallow. I was only 44 years old and my daughters just 8&5 at that time. I had an emergency bowel resection that day followed by chemo throughout the summer and then a liver resection in Oct 21. It was an extrenely tough year but I did manage to still be mum to my daughters, continue to work, run my house and even have a bit of a social life too :-). I want to try and help raise awareneess about Bowel Cancer, to not be embarrassed to talk about symptoms but also to show that you can live a life following a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Bowel Cancer doesn't just happen to old people. Please help me by showing your support, donating and sharing my story. Cancer doesnt just effect the person diagnosed it has a huge impact on those that love us too.
