I'm joining Cancer Research UK's Race for life on July 12th at Heaton Park
UPDATE 2 / 8 2015
Just fininshed race for life on 12th july raising £1200. I wanted all donations to go to springhill hospice but all donations had to go to cancer research projects. Tthankyou so much to everyone that participated and donated. I have just recently come out of springhill hospice after a weeks respite. They looked after me so well. Iwas born with a very rare genetic condition called multiple endocrine neoplasia. It was diagnosed when I was about 30, I have numerous tumours throughout my endocrine system and have had several operations to remove them, one operation left me diabetic. My dad and second sister also have this. Unfortunately both jenny and danny , my son and daughter both have the mutant gene. This means both my granddaughters have a 50/50 potential chance of having it too ,which is the most heartbreaking part of this. In May 2010 , I had a mammogram which came back clear. In September 2010, after checking myself, I found a small lump which was small but was cancerous, so make sure you regularly check. It only took 5 months to start and grow to the point where I had to have a lumpectomy. The breast cancer spread in 2012 to my lung.Just recently it has spread to my brain causing a stroke at end of January. I have had a course of hormonal therapy, chemotherapy and whole head brain radiotherapy. All of which have given me side effects, some of which have been hard to tolerate. Springhill Hospice have been fabulous with the care they have given me. My dad died in 2007 in spring hill hospice and the care they gave him was second to none. I would dearly love to raise money for this fabulous cause.
Without the help of cancer research ,Spring hill hospice and Christies,I wouldn't be as well as I am feeling now
I have been on chemotherapy and radiotherapy which have been successful as I have just found out 3 of my tumours have decreased in size and the radiotherapy has appeared to work too.
I am determined to complete race for life this year as I did last year with my 3 sisters , my daughter Jenny and family for cancer research ,Christies and Spring Hill hospice
Any donation will be will be greatly appreciated
thank you
Denise xx
