Story
Hi
This is my second attempt. Yucky green algae stopped all swimming last year, but this year is it! The big cold scary long swim.
So thanks for taking the time to visit my 'lets make it worth the public humiliation page', yet again.
For those of you who know me well the words Denise and sporty do not go together! I did not appreciate the worry of another 12 months anticipation or the idea of further training, but the sponsorship money weighed heavily on my conscience and I felt I had to do it. So 2nd time lucky.
So why did this all happen in the 1st place?
On the way to my dear friend Brian's funeral I heard about the Great Northern Swim and I thought, 'I can swim.' In a moment of complete control loss I said I would do it!
Why I need you to sponsor me-
I know some people trek across the Sahara and they are doing something really incredible, but this is my Sahara!
I do not swim outdoors (too many things lurking in the depths) I do not swim far (I get bored and start to think about crisps and other niceties) I do not own a wetsuit (fashion disaster just doesn't begin to cover it!)
However I find myself, despite a broken toe and inadequate training, inexplicably drawn to Lake Windermere(definitely not inside), to swim a mile (a long way) in the cold (hence the humiliating sight above)
Here's how you can help, if you haven't already.
I do realise there will be some of you that visit this page to laugh...I would, but please give as well)
donating through justgiving is simple, fast and totally secure. your details are safe with justgiving - they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure gift aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a uk taxpayer. so it’s the most efficient way to donate - i raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
so please dig deep and donate now. I need all the encouragement I can get!
