Blood Bikes Manchester operates FREE OF CHARGE to any NHS or Hospice establishment to deliver blood, plasma and breast milk amongst other life-saving essentials. They operate all Bank Holidays and over Christmas. These guys and girls are out in all weather and conditions to help save lives.
I am raising money for Blood Bikes Manchester by tackling the Via Ferrata at Honister Slate Mine. Along with moral support in the form of Nicki Hodson, we will be climbing peaks 9x higher than Blackpool's `The Big One`, 7x higher than Big Ben and 2x higher than 'The Shard' in London. We will cross cargo net ladders, traverse vertical iron rungs and the Burma Bridge rope. Luckily all this overlooks Buttermere, Crummock and Loweswater. We will then cross Infinity Bridge, (so-called because you can't see the other end!) which is strung 1,500 ft above the valley - approaching the summit of Fleetwith Pike (2,126 feet high) via a 66 ft vertical scramble net.
