Story
Postponed until 2022 when I will be 2 years older and after lockdown alot less fit .... eek!
I am not a cyclist!
People think I am absolutely bonkers to do this and maybe I am!
Turning 60 is a huge date and should be celebrated. I would like to challenge myself this birthday year and what better or bigger way to do it than riding 260 miles through 3 countries in 3 days in the wind and rain.
Up until now, my cycling consisted of the occasional 4 mile ride and on holiday I might stretch to 10 miles!
After travelling with the O2E pelaton as support to my husband and friends and seeing the amazing comaraderie and sense of achievement, I have decided to join this mad bunch of cyclists.
My early birthday present is a road bike and I have started training an hour a day with my bike on a stand. Already my sit bones are aching! I just hope if I can condition my derriere to sit on the saddle and learn how to use my clip in shoes in the cleats then once I get out on the road I will manage to not fall off and get some real miles done!
O2e's 15th annual cycling challenge is a two and a half day ride with stays in 3 iconic European Cities covering approximately 260 miles - assuming I don't get lost! Follow my journey as we travel through France, Belgium and The Netherlands that's often traffic free and promises some of the best cycling available. O2e is different; we fund our own costs and everything is done by volunteers - that way every penny raised goes to our worthwhile charities. The worthwhile causes we are supporting this year are: St Elizabeth's, CASPA, PACE, SPARKLE, Garwood Special School , ELHAP and New Horizons Childrens' Academia School.
