Story
Having recently lost my Dad to advanced Prostate Cancer I have decided to take on this challenge to help raise awareness of the devastating effect this can have on men and their families and to raise some money for a small charity support group which my Dad turned to during his illness not only for his own support, but whilst within the group he helped with their campaign to offer Support, Awareness, Fundraising and Education. Something which I would love to be able to contribute towards.
One of the many events that the IWPCSG run are free PSA tests for men on the island, screening which isn’t routinely offered. This year alone they have held 4 events testing over 1000 men, events like these are made possible through fundraising and donations that they receive.
I am not a marathon runner, I actually couldn’t really class myself as a runner of any kind over the last year or so but it is something I enjoy and hope will help me with my own recovery from the grief of losing my Dad.
With this in mind I will accumulate the miles to equal a marathon over the month and every month for the next six months!
I plan to join my sister on the the Isle of Wight at the end of April when she and her close friend complete the Island cycle in support of the same charity.
