Story
On the 16th May (now postponed to the 7th August due to bad weather!), I will be taking part in the "Leap of Love" - A tandem Skydive, to raise vital funds for Sands.
Unfortunately, I know first-hand just how vital the support Sands provides is, having suffered the loss of my daughter Isla, who was stillborn in May 2014.
Sands supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, works in partnership with health professionals to try to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care and funds research that could help to reduce the numbers of babies dying and families devastated by this tragedy.
Sadly, the death of a baby is not rare. Every day in the UK around 14 babies die before, during or soon after birth. That means nearly every two hours a family is faced with the devastation of the death of their baby.
All money raised will go towards Sands's core aims; to support bereaved families and save babies' lives.
This is what your donation means to Sands:
£20 enables Sands to provide a memory box to parents so they can start making memories with their baby.
£140 provides one full day of bereavement care training for healthcare professionals.
£580 a day keeps our helpline open and free for every caller.
£840 can sponsor an entire day of training for 20 midwives!
£1,500 is needed on average to run one local support group for a year.
Sands is determined to make a real difference to the lives of bereaved families across the UK. But they can only continue to deliver their crucial work with our support.
When you donate to Sands, you are supporting their vision of a world where fewer babies die and helping to ensure that every bereaved family, wherever they live in the UK, gets the care and support they need, when they need it, for as long as they need it.
Thank you for reading, and if you have donated, even a small amount - THANK YOU!
