Story
8th June 2024, I am taking on a Mighty Hike along the stunning South Downs Way to raise money for people living with cancer.
Macmillan nurses were there each day, in the final days my father had, when he chose to be at home in familiar surroundings. He was suffering from Mesothelioma. The nurses were not only providing care for my dad, but also support for my mum as she realised her world as she knew it, was about to turn upside down.
My sister and I had work and family commitments, so our visits were when we could. Having the knowledge that both my mother and father were receiving the care they required was the reassurance we needed at a difficult time.
I have pledged to raise £250 and would appreciate any support in reaching this. By fundraising my pledge, I could pay for a Macmillan Support Worker for two days who could provide emotional, practical and financial advice to someone affected by cancer.
