Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I recently lost a family member who was suffering from dementia which is why i have chosen this charity for the event.
The challenge:
A 'virtual' rowing race (COVID has limited the options!), from Dover to Calais. 39.806km - if we're lucky, 3hrs on the rowing machine.
Whoever raises the most money will get a 1km head start, just to make it a little more interesting!
If the target of £1000 is reached I will DOUBLE the distance.
The plea:
Christmas has just gone, money might be tight, so all I'm asking for is £2 (the minimum JG donation) - and then more importantly - please share the link with 2 friends. If everyone does this; donates a couple of quid (less than a coffee), and shares with 2 friends, we'll hit our £1000 goal easily.
The charity:
Race against Dementia is driven to raise money to fund breakthrough and innovative dementia research.
There are 50 million people living with dementia across the globe and every minute this figure is rising. Behind each statistic is a real person and a heart-breaking story – a wife, a husband, a father, a mother. Each has shared memories, passions, ambitions and hopes that are slowly fading away. A diagnosis of dementia doesn’t just impact one person: its effects ripple through entire families, wreaking devastation on countless lives.
We can’t just talk about dementia. Caring is not enough.
We have to find a solution and a new approach to research is the only way.
