My wife and I found out at an early scan date that our daughter Sadie Beau Baseley would be born with a birth defect - gastroschisis - 

Gastroschisis is a birth defect that develops in a baby while a woman is pregnant. This condition occurs when an opening forms in the baby's abdominal wall. The baby's bowel pushes through this hole. The bowel then develops outside of the baby's body in the amniotic fluid. 

As you could imagine this came as a shock to our family, with numerous scares throughout my wife's pregnancy. Sadie's birth was thoroughly planned by the amazing team at Leicester Royal.
