Debbie & Andy Warner Sheffield 10K for Cavendish Cancer Care

Asda Foundation Sheffield 10K 2019 · 22 September 2019 ·
Cavendish Cancer Care is an amazing place. I am so grateful to them for being there when I needed them. The centre gave me a safe, friendly and welcoming place to talk and my therapy sessions really helped me to feel more calm and relaxed.
The work they do at Cavendish is recommended by national cancer plans as something every patient should have access to but at present is not part of mainstream NHS care, so they fill this much needed gap. Last year they supported more than 1900 local families both in their Wilkinson street base the Tim Pryor Centre and directly on the wards at both Weston Park Hospital and at the Palliative Care unit at Northern General Hospital. Every one of those people were able to pick up the phone and get an appointment within 5 working days enabling them to access a free of charge package of care and support centred around their needs. They receive just enough statutory funding to keep their doors open for about two weeks each year, put simply they wouldn’t be here without the support of the local community and people like us doing challenges for them. They really make a difference to people’s lives.
Please help me and Andrew to make a difference to this brilliant local charity by sponsoring our efforts in this years Sheffield 10K. Training together hasn’t been easy. He has had to learn to run a lot slower and I have tried to get a bit faster. Hopefully we will be able to stay together the whole 10k and still be married at the end!
We are forever grateful to Cavendish for what they did to help me and to you for all your support and helping us to say a big thank you to them. xx
