Hi everyone- only five weeks to go before my big day (marathon that is, not becoming 50!)

I'm hoping you'll all help me raise a few pounds for JDRF-this is a global charity hard at work supporting youngsters and young adults with their diabetes and researching continually for a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

I remember, being collected from hospital as a newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic, aged 20years old and lliving the high life in Brighton, when my group of friends arranged to take me nightclubbing. I glammed up, went to the bar - ''What will you have?''  Damn, I hadn't a clue at that moment. Could I drink gin, beer or wine - what would it do to my sugar levels? At that point I'd had little or no advice on having fun with diabetes- alcohol wasnt something my doctors had talked much about! I asked for '' A coke please- a diet coke'' and so began my adult life of coping with diabetes......

( and of course, from then on handling the consumption of alcohol- lol!) 

Since then I have had 30 years of advice and support from my diabetic team. I would like to donate this money as a thank you.
