Story
I have had the absolute honour of being selected to run for CHECT (The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust) in the London Marathon 2015 :)
Freya, Russ and I spend so much time in London for Freya's Rb (Retinoblastoma) treatment (eye cancer) and, after Jersey, the London Marathon really is the perfect place to run, not only marking my 40th birthday, but also and foremost to support CHECT who have supported our incredible daughter through some horrendous times.
Without CHECT we may not have had our beautiful and inspirational little Freya here today.
I will refund the charity for the cost of a charity place so every penny raised from my supporters will go directly to CHECT.
CHECT not only ensures that the treatment of Rb is efficient and effective, it also carries out extensive research into genetic cancer disorders and has invaluable workshops for those with long term genetic / physical effects from Rb.
CHECT employ an amazing team of specialist doctors / surgeons, nurses, ophthalmologists and support workers - many of whom donate their time for free, helping not only those with Rb but also their wider family and friends.
I believe awareness is key as so many children do not get a diagnosis in time. We were very lucky which is why I feel that I need to give something back by raising awareness and funding for this incredible charity xxx
