We are riding on behalf of the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London, hence 'Team NHLI' [https://www.imperial.ac.uk/nhli]. We are a team of scientists and clinicians from Europe's largest heart and lung centre who work on a daily basis to find cures for patients with circulatory disease. The BHF are a fabulous organization and fund much of our research, so getting on our bikes for a day seems like the very least we can do. Our research spans everything from fundamental cell and molecular science, where we try to fathom how the heart and blood vessels work, the genetic and environmental drivers of disease, learning from modern imaging, big data and large populations, to the most modern treatments spanning stem cells to implantable devices.
