Story
Beth's story:
As some of you may know, in August last year my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was devastating news that no one wants to hear, and you can never be prepared for.
She was one of the lucky ones, we caught it early and after surgery and radiotherapy mum has now had the all clear and is back to full health. Many of you won't even know that my mum has been through all of this, and that just goes to show what a strong woman she is. Cancer is tough on everyone in the family, the travelling to and from hospital for appointment after appointment, radiotherapy every day for 3 weeks, the stress and worry about the future, and the feeling of a lack of control over your life and body. But obviously, the biggest impact was on mum; a cancer diagnosis makes you question what you've done to deserve this, but often, cancer does what it wants, and so many people are affected who have lived healthy lives, who have never smoked, never done anything that gives a logical reason for this vicious disease. And that's why we need to keep on fighting. Cancer comes with no rhyme or reason, it often can't be predicted and, if not caught early, can have devastating impacts.
