Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
A long time ago, back in 2019 whilst sitting in a bar in Rome with my friend Lynn we were a few G&T's into the evening when I broached the subject of her joining me in the challenge of cycling 400 kms across the rift valley in Kenya from Mount Kenya to Lake Victoria..... amazingly she said YES!!!!
Fast forward to 2021 and after all the uncertainties of the last year it seems as if this challenge is actually going ahead and its time for Lynn and I to step up a GEAR, hit the saddle and get pedalling!
We have both lost a very dear friend to cancer and have seen several friends and family go through treatment, and want to do something to support these charities as they not only provide support and care for patients and contribute to research, they also raise much needed awareness of womens cancers through their campaigns. They need our support at the moment more than ever and as this is the Women vs Cancer 10 year anniversary and we're on a mission to raise 3 million pounds for these charities, Lynn and I would like to do our bit to help.
I have previously completed a similar charity cycle challenge so know what I am letting myself in for! Lynn on the other hand has not ridden a bike for a very long time but has now got the gear, a bike with a very squashy saddle and is raring to go.
Our challenge is to raise a minimum of £7000 and we plan to self-fund our trip so every penny you donate will go straight to the charities. During our visit to Kenya we will also be visiting the Faraja Cancer Support centre in Nairobi where a portion of your money will also be donated.
Any amount no matter how big or small will help us to reach our target so please donate if you can to support these fantastic charities.
