Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In March 2020, just ahead of the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, I was diagnosed with HER2 Positive ER/PR Negative breast cancer. It was a complete shock that’s completely changed my life.
On 31 March I had life-saving surgery. A single mastectomy to cut out an aggressive 3cm tumour that was trying to kill me.
In May I started 12 gruelling rounds of chemotherapy that often left me feeling fatigued, lifeless, hollow, upset, angry and just plain sick with some horrid side effects. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life both mentally and physically.
I finished chemo in August but still having active treatment by way of a hormone injection every 3 weeks. I’m also now trying to build up my strength and get back to some semblance of my old self.
The good news is that my CT scan has revealed no evidence of disease - so I’m currently CANCER FREE!
I want to raise awareness of breast cancer so others like me can catch it early and get life-saving treatment and support.
1 in 8 women will get breast cancer at sometime in their life. And men get breast cancer too - something that’s not widely publicised or talked about.
You never think cancer will happen to you. But when it does it hits you like a 10 ton truck. Hard to accept and understand, you are forced to endure a very frightening and scary journey.
BREAST CANCER NOW have been a useful resource for me. They offer information and vital help and support. Due to the pandemic many charities have suffered from lack of funds.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. So, please join me in fundraising for BREAST CANCER NOW. I’m planning a virtual Afternoon Tea on Sunday 18 October at 3pm. All you have to do is either join me online (please send me an email - deborah.wyatt@hotmail.co.uk - and I will send you a link nearer the time so you can join in virtually ). Then just have your cake, pastry and/or scone at the ready with a cup of tea and we can have a chat and a catch up. If you’re unable to join in on the day, you can still make a donation.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you.
Deborah
PS - REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR BREASTS AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH & SEE YOUR GP IF THEY DON’T FEEL RIGHT.
