Story
Colleagues Jan Hintz and Deb Wilson from Swire Shipping New Zealand are taking on the challenge of climbing the world's highest free-standing peak Mount Kilimanjaro in August 2021, in the ultimate bucket-list trip whilst raising funds for seafarers and their families in need around the world.
Whilst we recognise this challenge is not for the faint-hearted, testing our mental and physical stamina over six days to heights of 5,985 meters above sea level. It is dwarfed in comparison when considering seafarers have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, facing storms, piracy, accidents and intense isolation.
The Sailors' Society is an international charity that provides a personal lifeline for seafarers throughout the world. Existing to enrich and enhance the well-being of the world's 1.5 million seafarers, they carry out work through a network of Port Chaplains and Seafarers' Centers across the world, aiming to replace isolation with belonging.
Over the next nine months we will embark on championing this cause and raising a minimum joint US$10,000 target which we have pledged to the Sailors' Society. Please follow us on our journey and help support this worthy cause by donating today.
Thanks for supporting TEAM NEW ZEALAND. Cheers Jan and Deb
