2022 saw my TCS London Marathon campaign raise a fantastic £18,000 for Cancer Research UK.  It also saw total funds raised to date smash the £150,000 mark with a total raised now standing at just over £152,000.  But I am not going to stop there………….

In February 2022, I  ran the London Winter 10K, then I went on to run the Great North Run in September and the London Marathon in October.  I have a number of races booked in for 2023 – the London Winter 10K, the Landmarks Half Marathon, the Great North Run and the TCS London Marathon (my 9th consecutive London Marathon!) in the hope of raising even more vital funds for this amazing charity.

Having lost my mum Marion, brother Rob and uncle Doug to this very cruel disease, I want to continue fundraising in their memory and see the day when all cancers are cured. I also had my own breast cancer scare just days after running the London Marathon in October 2022, having had a mammogram recall.  After thorough examination, mammogram comparisons and further investigation at Kings College Hospital, I was hugely relieved to have been told that there were no signs of cancer, no further investigation was necessary and I could resume the usual NHS breast screening programme.  I learnt first hand the importance of fundraising when speaking to the breast doctor and was told that they were making incredible breakthroughs with research not only in respect of breast cancer, but all other cancers.  This for me reinforced the importance to continue the fundraising work that I have been doing for over 10 years now. 

In the 1970s, 1 in 4 people survived cancer, today it is 2 in 4 and the aim of CRUK is to see 3 in 4 people survive cancer by 2034, and I am very much part of that drive.
