Story

Being able to run seems such a simple activity. When the ability to run,  walk or even feed yourself is taken away from you, every movement can be a force of will.

Multiple sclerosis is an auto-immune disease of the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) in which the immune system attacks the protective myelin sheath that surrounds it.

The symptoms that occur depend on the site and severity of the lesions caused by scarring (sclerosis) of the sheath and is why people with MS experience different symptoms at different times.

I have known several people over the years with varying degrees of MS – from mild to severe. Each one has to overcome day-to-day issues of pain, fatigue and disability. Running 10k is a small way I can help support the charity that does much to help them cope.

MS-UK was established in 1993, and is a national charity dedicated to
empowering people with multiple sclerosis to make the most of today,
and live life to the full.MS-UK put people affected by MS at the heart of
the work that they do. They provide high quality, professional services to
support people living with multiple sclerosis, and they listen to
people affected by MS.
