Story
As a kid with asthma, running had always been a challenge for me.
Every high school year, I dreaded that time of year when we had to do "athletics" in our PE class, as it meant that we would have to do our timed "1,500m" race.
At the time, this was a real endevour because of my asthma. I didn't quite understand my condition, and felt frustrated for not being able to run without feeling so breathless. However, I struggled through (with the support of my inhaler!).
Today, I want to embrace my determined teenager self and face this much greater challenge, my first-ever half marathon. When I first volunteered at a cheer point for Asthma + Lung UK (Asthma UK at the time), I was deeply inspired by everyone that run for our cause, young or old. They gave me the courage to register for the half marathon back in 2020, right before covid hit.
Two years later, having gone through covid twice, I look forward to running around the Royal Parks of London, challenging myself once more while playing a bit part in helping people with asthma and lung disease.
I would love for you to join me in this journey - any bit of help (i.e. donations and/or words of encouragement) will be greatly appreciated!
With love,
Deborah 💜

1 in 5 of us will have a lung condition during our lifetime. There's a new diagnosis every minute. I'm running The Royal Parks Half Marathon for Asthma + Lung UK. They're the only UK charity that fights for everyone's right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs. Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!
