Story
Thank you for supporting me to take part in Memory Walk this year and raise much needed funds for Alzheimer's Society. My lovely father-in-law has dementia and we are losing him bit by bit, day by day. Some days are really good, other days, he forgets how to put his socks on. It is early days in his struggle with dementia, hopefully his decline will be very slow.
All of the money I raise will help support people living with dementia and their families, so your donation will make a huge difference.
Just £50 will pay for someone with dementia to go to a Dementia Café session every week for a month, where they can meet others, share experiences and feel less isolated. And the more I raise, the bigger the difference it will make.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. All your donations gave me a reason for getting up early on a Sunday morning. We arrived quite early to register and write our memory tags. There was a brass band playing and we all took part in a lovely warm up - both physical and vocal. Then we were off!
I was amazed at the huge number of walkers this morning, from babies in buggies to grandparents walking with the whole family and the dogs.
We did it. Sitting here wearing my finishing medal I completed the beautiful Wollaton Park walk in about an hour and three quarters. Not bad for an unfit 55 year old.
