Story
At the end of March Joshua, our brother and cousin was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Our lives were suddenly turned upside down and COVID made it even harder as Joshy was allowed no visitors.
Joshy was diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma and we were advised he needed almost a year of treatment, including 6 weeks of radiotherapy under general anaesthetic, followed by 10 months of Chemotherapy. Unfortunately he also developed Posterior Fossa Syndrome which meant after the surgery he was not able to move his arms, legs or lift his head and was unable to eat or speak.
Three months on and Joshy is working incredibly hard and making good progress with his recovery. He is determined to walk independently and has started eating, but we are still waiting for his speech to return.
Throughout this devastating time Camp Simcha have supported my family in so many ways. From providing emotional support for our family, to Shabbat meals and treats delivered to the hospital and games to cheer up Joshy - they have been so thoughtful, even providing a special pushchair when they realised it was difficult for us to take Joshy for a walk with the wheelchair. They have been there for us every step of the way.
Ava, Louie, Ariella, Tamara, Benjamin and I would like to raise money to support Camp Simcha in the amazing work that they do for so many families. Collectively we are going to cycle 400miles, the distance from London to Glasgow. Starting Sunday 19th of July we will be working as a team, completing rides and recording our mileage to total the equivalent of London to Glasgow. Please follow our live updates and we aim to complete our challenge within four weeks.
Thank you for your kind and generous sponsorship.
Love Rebecca and my cousins.
