Story

After a career spent in retail I had the opportunity to volunteer as a trustee for Florence Nightingale Hospice. I am in awe of the retail team and volunteers who generate profit everyday to support the hospice team at Stoke Mandeville. This allows them to provide essential support for families that would otherwise be alone in coping with the many practical and emotional difficulties that arise when someone is terminally ill. The hospice provide both at -home and on-site care for hundreds of individuals and families every year, but are dependent on donations and fundraising to continue doing so.

Whilst I walk my Cocker Spaniel Holly daily the Ridgeway walk will be a huge challenge for me and a big step up from my normal daily walk. I am also daunted by the proposed comprehensive training program . Hopefully , Holly and some long suffering friends will join me for some of the training schedule. I am very keen to exceed the sponsorship target to enable the fantastic and critical care to continue at the hospice.

Florence Nightingale Hospice is more than a Hospice, and this is more than just a challenge. Completing 20 miles each day for 4 days will be a mental and physical push, however it's all for an amazing cause. Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity commits to raise £1million each and every year to ensure the incredible services can continue, such as the new Hospice at Home service which ensures those wishing to remain at home can do so whilst receiving the same high standard of care they would as an inpatient. Without supporters becoming part of Team Flo and taking on challenges whilst raising funds, the Hospice services just would not continue. Every penny counts so please donate what you can and cheer us on through the miles to come!
