Story
- Thank you for visiting our page.. The 2 of us will be walking to raise funds for BARB( Burnham Area Rescue Boat) on 14th May,setting off at 10.30 am from Burnham Pier Pavilion along the beach to Brean Cafe and back, a total of approx 14 miles. We will be the ones in fancy dress so please give us a wave if you see us. . We will update the page with photos when we reach our checkpoints.
- BARB Search & Rescue operates 2 life saving Hovercrafts and 2 Inshore Rescue Boats in Somerset. BARB is affiliated with Surf-Lifesaving GB being able to provide mutual aid to other teams in and around the region and support National Resilience to flooding with our fully trained Flood Team.
- The team support Coastguard, Police, Fire and Ambulance on the front-line when called upon with our dedicated volunteers 24 hours a day.BARB is a charity that relies on public donations to keep operating with running costs of around £50,000 a year.
- This is such a vital service which we could not do without, not only for local residents but the thousands of holidaymakers and day visitors we get each year.
