Story
I'm cycling with Geoff, my husband and Wendy Barnes from John O'Groats to Lands End to raise much needed funds for My New Hair. We'll be cycling approximately 80 to 90 miles a day. Let's hope we don't get lost or end up as dinosaurs (megasorearses lol)
Through my work at a The Classic Hair company, I know how hair loss through chemotherapy or alopecia can impact on the quality of life for those going through it. Dealing with cancer itself is a massive hurdle and brings a multitude of psychological issues. My New Hair isnt just about hair, it's psychological medicine for people suffering from hair loss. Losing your hair, your femininity can be soul destroying and unfortunately because of budget issues many health authorities are unable to provide the necessary support to help with the hair loss. Most of us ladies are conscious of how we look.......bad hair days don't make us feel good.....no hair days??? Not having any hair in addition to having powerful drugs administered and feeling petrified about the outcome is a place where no one would choose to be. "My New Hair" provides the support regarding hair loss and provide help when health authorities are unable to accommodate.
I am nervous about this cycle ride - riding such a distance daily over so many days is a massive challenge - but nothing in comparison to the battle faced by so many facing cancer. Please donate to give us the strength to carry on when the going gets tough so that we can support others.
