Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In August 2010 one of the most cruel and swift cancers - pancreatic cancer - took away one of my reasons for living - my beautiful daughter Gemma.

Gemma was born on 9th April 1983 so 2013 marks what would have been her 30th birthday year. Because research into pancreatic cancer is so poorly funded I decided (rashly) to try and raise thirty thousand pounds for Pancreatic Cancer UK as a birthday gift for Gemma.

But - I need your help in order to achieve this and so I really appreciate your donation and any fundraising efforts that can help me and my family achieve this target.

You can read more about Gemma at her website www.gemma.harrison.muchloved.com and you can read about the valuable and powerful work that Pancreatic Cancer UK are doing at www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk .

I believe that earlier diagnosis and better understanding and awareness of this cancer could have prevented Gem's death and the agony our family now live with on a daily basis. So please help us in the fight against this cancer and celebrate the 30th birthday year of a very special and most cherished young lady - Gemma Harrison. Thank you.

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.
