PLEASE NOTE, DUE TO THE VOLCANIC ASH CLOUD, THE TRIP IN APRIL HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO 30 OCT 2010. MANY THANKS FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT.
Hi and thanks for visiting my JustGiving page,
In April 2010 I will be joining the Girls Get Tough Hike the challenge raising money for the Wellbeing of Women (WoW) charity. This involves hiking up to 13km per day (6-8 hours) to heights of 3500m - but it is not the extreme temperatures, physical exertion and altitude sickness that worry me - it is the camping....for this is a girl who has never been camping in her life......I've been told to take lots of toilet rolls and wet wipes, advice that has not allayed my fears!! But rest assured, I am definitely up for the challenge and training hard so that I can raise money for a very worthwhile charity.
Wellbeing of Women was established in 1964 and has been raising funds ever since then to invest in medical research and the development of specialist doctors and nurses working in the field of reproductive and gynaecological health.
§ 1 in 2 women in the will suffer from some kind of reproductive or gynaecological health problem § 17 babies a day die in the at or near birth § 150 women a week in the die of a gynaecological cancer § 2 million women suffer the pain of endometriosis § 1 in 3 women will suffer from urinary incontinence at some point in their lives § 1 in 5 pregnancies ends in miscarriage § Women remain embarrassed to talk about these types of health problems, even with their doctors.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
