Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

Grandad Bill sadly passed away in December 2019. Unfortunately Dementia meant that the grieving process for the cheeky character we all loved so dearly started a long time before he finally left us.

Visiting Grandad in the final months was difficult. He often didn’t know who I was and became easily agitated if you couldn’t understand his needs. He loved looking at pictures and we passed our time looking through magazines or photos on my phone. Whenever we would look at my running pictures I would always tell him I was going to run a marathon one day and without fail he would always say “I would love to see that Babby”

On October the 2nd 2022 I will be running the London Marathon to raise money for Dementia UK
