Story
"Stella's life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She was loved beyond words and is missed beyond measure."
Mum was born in India (Asia) and later lived with Dad in Kenya (Africa). In both these continents, clean water, sanitation, toilets, knowledge of hygienic practices - basic needs and services - are not always known or available to all. Those living in hard to reach areas can be forgotten entirely, poor people can be priced out, and often women and children walk miles every day to provide water for their families, leaving them no time for other work, education or play.
Whenever Mum saw children and adults die from diseases - such as cholera, typhoid, dysentery, polio - through drinking contaminated water and/or from drought, it would always bring a tear to her eye! As such, from an early age Mum and her family always drank boiled water - in fact her favourite tipple was hot water ☺️ - and she was fastidious about hygiene.
In memory of Mum, you might want to donate to WaterAid UK, a charitable organisation who work with local communities and governments in many of the poorest regions around the globe. The charity works in these nations to develop and operate sustainable solutions to provide clean water and hygiene services, educate communities to take over and finance the maintenance of these services for future generations. If you want to learn more than please see www.wateraid.org/uk/ and if you are able to able to help then THANK YOU!
