Tri21 Challenge
Campaign by Down Syndrome Cheshire (RCN 1192916)
Tri21 is our fun triathlon-inspired physical challenge activity designed to raise awareness of World Down Syndrome Day, March 21st, 2022.

Story

Helping to improve the lives of people living with Down syndrome in Cheshire. World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is a global awareness day which has been officially observed every year on 21st March by the United Nations since 2012. The date for WDSD being the 21st day of the 3rd month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. Tri21 is our fun, triathlon-inspired, activity that dares you to take the challenge of choosing three different activities to cover 21km over the World Down Syndrome weekend of 19th - 20th March 2022. So, whether you run, walk or cycle; swim, skateboard or wriggle, or bounce, boogie or bop, we hope you have a fabulous time - and don't forget to ask your family and friends to sponsor or donate...and maybe they could get involved too!?

Our charity was founded in 2007 by a group of parents, who realised how important it is to connect with other people in order to share experiences. Our aim is to provide opportunities for parents, carers, siblings and extended family networks to have fun in a fully inclusive environment, where a child with Down’s syndrome is one of many, rather than one of a few.
