Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On Sunday 1st September Kate, Issy and I will each attempt to swim the length of Lake Windermere as part of the Windermere One Way event (WoW).

Lake Windermere is England's longest lake at 10.5 miles (although our route is 11 miles!), 1 mile wide and 220 feet deep at its deepest point. We have all taken part in endurance swim events before but this will be our furthest and most challenging swim.

We will each have the support of a kayaker who will help keep us safe and away from the lake traffic and more importantly feed us!

Our training has been going well and we have lost count of the number of miles we have swum in The River Cam and Jesus Green Lido - lets just hope we have done enough!

As well as the personal challenge we wanted to try and raise money for Happy Paws puppy Rescue .

The charity was set up with the sole purpose of rescuing as many dogs as possible from the devastating situations, through no fault of their own, that they find themselves in. Many of the dogs come from pounds and kill shelters across Europe.

As a charity they work with other rescue organisations who they trust and respect and mainly rescue Golden Retrievers, Labradors and some other breeds who they can successfully re-home within a family environment.

The charity is totally committed to give each and every dog who crosses their path the very best they can offer from vet care, to fostering, most comfortable travel arrangements and the best of all the right family who will care, support and love them for the rest of their lives. The charity is responsible for saving approximately 300 dogs per year.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
