Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.  We are thrilled to share this special day with our loved ones!  We want to share the love by supporting this special cause.

The specialist Neonatal Unit at Alder Hey Children's Hospital was opened in the 1950’s and has looked after thousands of babies with many different conditions. It’s home to one of only five neonatal surgical units in the United Kingdom and it provides specialist care for new-born babies.

We are asking you to make a donation to Alder Hey to celebrate our wedding. Your support will help Alder Hey purchase new heated cots for the babies who are being treated on the Neonatal Ward. Babies that are premature and unwell can’t regulate their own temperature, so these heated cots support the treatment of these babies, during their time in hospital.

These cots also perform a similar function to a neonatal incubator. They're much less daunting for parents and families and allow more access to the baby when needed, but have the flexibility to be fully closed up in a similar way to a traditional incubator

These cots and Alder Hey hold a special place in our hearts.  Debbie’s oldest son was born premature and Peter’s mother was a nurse at Alder Hey.  Helping premie babies and their families at Alder Hey touches a very personal chord for both of us.

Each cot costs £7000, so your support will help us to purchase one of these important pieces of equipment.
