We support people to help rebuild lives after stroke.

Story

In March 2020 I suffered a haemorrhagic stroke from which I wasn't expected to survive. Through my own determination and with the love and support of my partner, and family and friends my recovery has been remarkable and I, even more so than before, make the most of every day. I know I am not the same person I was, my left side is weak, and my brain is mashed but in many ways I have become a much better person. I have a renewed purpose for living, I won't let things stand in my way and I won't be beaten. Things that were lying dormant that my stroke has woken from their slumber.

My challenge is to walk from John O'Groats to Lands End, beginning on 15 September and ending, when I get there I suppose!! The walk will be about 1370 miles in total, following the first documented walk which was undertaken in 1871, and I plan to walk about 15 miles each day. I will sleep where I fall, whether under canvas or under the stars and wash in rivers and lakes. My only luxury will be to spend £10 each day to buy food, I want this challenge to be as tough as possible for me!!

Any donation will be welcomed with extreme gratitude and will give me the extra determination to carry on. Plus, the longer I walk for, the more days my partner will have in peace, without me annoying her. It really is a win, win situation!!
