Story
So....Hello again!
As most of you will know I have run the London Marathon on 2 occasions previously in 2014, and then 2016. Despite me vowing never to run another marathon again (On both occasions!) my competitive side has decided to give it another go!
However this time I've upped the Ante...I'm running 2 half marathons in March which are the Big Half on March 4th, and the London Landmarks on the 25th March. I am then doing something a little bit mad and running the Brighton Marathon on the 15th April, followed by the London Marathon just 7 days later!
Now for all those who know me well will realise that i'm not exactly built like a runner (As my good friend Trevor likes to remind me every week) but there is a story behind why i'm doing this.
On the 13th July 2013 my younger brother Adam took his own life at the age of just 25. Adam had suffered mental health issues for several years prior to his passing which devastated our family and his many friends. Adam had begun to receive help in the months before he left us but ultimatlely it wasn't enough. The money i'm looking to fundraise will help the charity MIND to continue the fantastic work they carry out.
MIND are an unbelievable charity which provide countless support for people suffering from Mental Health issues. I'm not ashamed to say I have used their services in the past and they have been an unbelievable help to me, and i'm sure thousands of others. They run counselling and workshops for people suffering from all forms of Anxiety, Depression, and other mental health issues. They also offer support lines that people can phone if they need to talk to anyone.
Mental Health issues are becoming recognised by society on how serious they are. The suicides in recent months of celebrities such as Chester Bennington show that mental health can target anyone regardless of who they are or how successful they appear to be. Suicide is now the biggest killer of men under 30 and more help is needed to fight this. Any amount of money you donate could help prevent someone following the same path Adam did.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story xx
